Origami for Adults Workshop

Join us for a relaxing and creative afternoon of origami just for adults! This hands-on workshop introduces the art of Japanese paper folding in a calm and supportive setting. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this session is a wonderful opportunity to explore traditional and contemporary designs and enjoy the peaceful rhythm of folding paper.
All materials will be provided, and step-by-step instruction will be led by Mayumi Amada, our talented art coordinator.

Cha-Ami at the AAPI Month Festival – May 17 in Edina
Cha-Ami Japanese Cultural Center is proud to participate in the 2025 AAPI Month Festival, themed “Cultivating Growth"
Saturday, May 17 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Rosland Park in Edina, Minnesota.
At this family-friendly event celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage, Cha-Ami will host a hands-on Origami activity booth, where visitors of all ages can try their hand at the traditional Japanese art of paper folding. Volunteers from Cha-Ami will be on-site to guide participants in creating simple and beautiful origami pieces to take home.
We look forward to connecting with the community and sharing the joy of Japanese culture through this fun, interactive experience.

Furoshiki Workshop
Come join us to learn about “Furoshiki”, a square piece of fabric that has been used in Japan for centuries for wrapping, protecting, transporting, organizing, decorating and so on.
The Sunday service is held in both English and Japanese, welcoming everyone to experience worship in a bilingual setting. Whether you're fluent in one language or both, the service provides a unique opportunity to connect with faith and community in a meaningful way. 11 am to 12 pm, followed by Furoshiki Workshop at 12:30 pm.
Furoshiki Instructor: Kazumi Kataoka has lived in Minnesota for more than 25 years. A self-claimed “furoshiki enthusiast”, sho wants to spread the word about this eco-friendly, versatile piece of Japanese culture. For more information, please visit https://bagstitute.com.

is hosting a cultural exchange student delegation for high school and college students to visit Bloomington's sister city of Izumi,
Osaka, Japan this summer.
Participants will stay with host families and tour the city of Izumi as well as surrounding communities of Osaka, Kyoto, and more from June 6th - 18th, 2024.
