On January 3rd, our staff and volunteers gathered for Shinnenkai, a traditional Japanese New Year’s celebration, to welcome the year together in the best way possible, through food, laughter, and community.
We started the day by making mochi, a meaningful New Year tradition that symbolizes good fortune, strength, and togetherness. In addition, Eriko prepared beautiful Osechi, bringing the spirit of the New Year to the table with dishes full of tradition and care. Alongside these, everyone brought food to share, filling the room with wonderful aromas and a table full of homemade dishes.
As we ate, we chatted, shared stories, laughed, and enjoyed each other’s company. It was a relaxed and joyful time, no schedules, no rush, just the simple pleasure of being together. Moments like these remind us how special our community is and how important it is to begin the year with connection and gratitude.
As we begin the new year, we are always looking for volunteers to help support our activities. We have many programs and workshops planned, and we would love for you to be part of them.
We look forward to seeing you soon and sharing many more meaningful moments together.
Happy New Year! 🎍✨
