Our first Kimono Club gathering  was a wonderful introduction to an ongoing and welcoming space for learning about kimono. The one-hour session focused on the basic items needed for kimono dressing  and gave participants a chance to see and talk about them in person. On January 3rd, our staff and volunteers gathered for Shinnenkai , a traditional Japanese New Year’s celebration, to welcome the year together in the best way possible, through food, laughter, and community. We started the day by making mochi , a meaningful New Year tradition that symbolizes good fortune, strength, and togetherness.
