Celebrating Our Obon Volunteers: A Special Gathering of Thanks

The Obon Festival may have ended, but the spirit of the celebration continued at Cha-Ami!

On September 5, Cha-Ami gathered with the wonderful volunteers who helped make this year’s Obon Festival at Como Park such a memorable event. It was a special opportunity to come together, share food and conversation, and, most importantly, say thank you.

An event like Obon takes many hands. From setting up and decorating to welcoming visitors, helping with activities, preparing our table, selling items, answering questions, and cleaning up at the end of the day, our volunteers generously gave their time and energy throughout the festival.

Many of these tasks happen behind the scenes, but every one of them makes a difference.

We were especially happy to see volunteers from different parts of the Cha-Ami community come together. Some have been volunteering with us from the beginning of time, while others joined us for the first time at Obon. It was wonderful to have everyone in the same room and have a chance to get to know one another beyond the busy festival day.

The gathering was filled with laughter, good food, stories from the festival, and conversations about future events and activities at Cha-Ami. We also enjoyed looking back on the day and remembering the many moments that made Obon special.

To all of our Obon volunteers: thank you!

Your time, energy, kindness, and willingness to help are what make Cha-Ami's community possible. We are grateful for every person who helped, in big ways and small.

Obon is a time to remember those who came before us and to celebrate the connections we share today. Our volunteer gathering reminded us that those connections are at the heart of what Cha-Ami is all about.

We look forward to creating many more memories together!
